CMS Awards

 

       There are three major mathematical awards in China, HUA Loo-Keng Mathematics Award, CHERN Shiing S. Mathematics Award and ZHONG Jiaqing Mathematics Award. Three committees within Chinese Mathematical Society are responsible for electing the winners of these awards among candidates. These awards have drawn great attentions in the mathematical community of China.

 

HUA Loo-Keng Mathematics Award was set up in 1991 and sponsored by Hunan Education Publishing House. Since then every two years the awards are granted to two Chinese mathematicians who have made most significant contributions in mathematical research and mathematical education.

 

CHERN Shiing S. Mathematics Award was set up in 1985 and sponsored by Mr. LIU Yong Ling, Chairman of both Elite Industrial Holdings Ltd. and LIU Yong Ling Foundations. Since then every two years the awards are granted to two young Chinese mathematicians who have made distinguished results in mathematics.

 

ZHONG Jiaqing Mathematics Award was set up in 1987 and sponsored by Zhong Jiaqing Fund. Since then about every two years the awards are granted to a couple of outstanding students toward Master or PhD degrees in mathematics.
